A Little Warmth Goes a Long Way: Her Circle's Winter Coat Drive

As the weather gets colder, many of us are pulling our winter coats out of storage or shopping for something new. But for some of our New Jersey neighbors, having a warm coat isn't always a guarantee.

This fall, Her Circle Collective is collecting new and gently used winter coats for adults and children in need.

At Her Circle, we talk a lot about rebuilding the village. We encourage women to lean on their communities, ask for help, and remember that they don't have to do everything alone. But I believe that same care should extend to people outside our immediate circles.

There are women in our communities trying to make ends meet, mothers putting their children's needs before their own, and families facing circumstances they never expected. Women are often praised for their strength and resilience, but I think we should spend just as much time making sure they have the support they need.

That's part of why we're organizing this drive.

During our Juneteenth picnic, we came together to assemble 33 care packages for people experiencing homelessness. It was a reminder that even as a small, growing organization, we can make a difference with the resources we already have.

This time, we're hoping to support New Jersey shelters and community organizations serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, and domestic violence. We're exploring organizations such as Isaiah House in East Orange, Goodwill Rescue Mission in Newark, and YWCA Union County.

Where to Donate

October 26 – November 13, 2026

  • William Paterson University — Hennings Science Hall East Psychology Graduate Student Lounge

  • MGM Medical Center — 262 William St, East Orange, NJ 07017

We're accepting clean, new or gently used winter coats in all adult and children's sizes.

If you don't have a coat to donate, sharing this drive with a friend, coworker, or family member is another way to help.

A coat won't solve every problem someone is facing, but it can be one less thing they have to worry about this winter.

If we're going to talk about rebuilding the village, we have to be willing to show up for them.

With love,
Khadie P.
